U of I Athletics Hall of Fame Karro History

In recognition of the extraordinary generosity demonstrated by Roy G. Karro of Southfield, Michigan, The University of Iowa is proud have named the building housing the The University of Iowa Athletics Hall of Fame in his honor. Karro's leadership gift of $3 million made this University of Iowa landmark possible, and he will be remembered for his kindness by generations of visitors. Karro, who enjoyed a distinguished career with Salomon Smith Barney, has been a loyal University of Iowa alumnus and steadfast supporter of the Iowa Hawkeyes since earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology in 1942. He was named an Honorary Letterwinner by the National Iowa Varsity Club in 1999 and was a 2002 recipeient of The University of Iowa Alumni Association's Distinguished Alumni Service Award. The University of Iowa Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and The University of Iowa Foundation join The University of Iowa and Iowa Hawkeye fans from around the world in expressing their heartfelt gratitude to Roy G. Karro.
